Skinwalker Ranch Review

I saw this a while ago but forgot to write a review on it. Skinwalker Ranch is a paranormal movie based around the UFO abduction phenomena. Like most of these films I expect nothing from them, so I am usually positively surprised when I view them.

I won’t give any spoilers away here but I will give you a loose plot. It is very similar to the Blair Witch in that it uses a hand held camera as its source of media. Infact it could be called the Blair UFO Project. The story starts with a boy vanishing in front of his parents in a strange flash of light. A team of investigators are sent to find out what has happened and if there is indeed a paranormal explanation. That’s about all I can tell you without spoiling it. There are a few bits that will make you jump, especially if you have the volume up high.

The film is well worth a watch. The acting from some of the cast is a bit wooden and that does spoil it a bit. I also found some of the scenes a bit polished, giving a very un- natural feel to parts of the movie. However I did like the idea and didn’t hit the fast forward at any point.

Verdict 7/10

Lewis Collins a very inspirational man

Lewis Collins one of my all time heroes has passed away aged 67. We all knew him as Bodie from the Professionals with Martin Shaw staring along side as Doyle. I never understood why we never saw more of Lewis after the Professionals finished came to an end. He did indeed try out for the part of James Bond. A part made for him but he was considered to aggressive for the role. Perhaps he became disillusioned with the industry and who could blame him.

He moved his family to LA where he started a computer business. Talk about man of many talents. What I liked about Lewis is a bit unusual for an actor but he really was as tough as he seemed. He was a reservist for the Parachute Regiment and even tried out for the SAS, in which he was successful for selection.

I will raise a glass for you tonight Lewis wherever you are.Below is a clip from Who Dares Wins catch the film if you can.

PACO RABANNE 1 MILLION

PACO RABANNE 1 MILLION

Voted by many now as the number one cologne for men! I myself use this and I must say that it is a sure winner.

Cologne is a bit of a tricky thing to buy for a man. But 1 million seems to be a favorite for both men and women alike.

It certainly is different in terms of smell. Colognes can seem the same, with many of them having a strong hint of lemon, which can be a bit overpowering. This particular cologne is quite soft and spicy, giving it a deeper more masculine fragrance. Many women are claiming that 1 Million by Paco Rabanne is a bit of a seducer and I must say that I have had a few comments from females since I have worn it, more so than any other cologne that I have ever worn.

The bottle or dispenser is also a bit snazzy, resembling a bar of gold bullion. No chance of picking up the wrong bottle here.

Overall I would give Paco Rabanne 1 Million  9/10 and I think that a lot of other people would agree.

Another observation for this cologne, is that I know young and older people that wear it and I always take that as a good sign

Shaun Ryder on UFO’S- A blog for men

Shaun Ryder on UFO’S. What will he discover?

I am sure that most of you are aware of the new series on the History channel, hosted by the front man for the band he Happy Mondays.

Shaun had seen some UFO activity on a couple of occasions in his early life. And since then has had a keen interest in the subject.

This program takes a look from what I would say was a slightly different angle. It's kind of a one man and his quest scenario. Because Shaun is one of us and not a skeptic, the old quest for proof ploy
is not present, making it easier and more interesting to watch. I would say that this is the next step in disclosure.

I think that it is safe to say the UFO phenomena are indeed real! It can no longer be categorized with myth such as Bigfoot and the Lochness Monster. Sightings have been made by amateur and professional alike. Jimmy Carter saw one, reports from airline pilots and air traffic controller’s also military pilots, Doctors, police, teachers all people in authorative positions have reported seeing them. The real big question is!

What should our next step as humans be towards this obvious situation?

It would seem that another species or maybe several are trying to make us aware of their presence. What is their agenda here? Where do they come from? And what can they teach us?

I hope that Shaun Ryder on UFO’s breaks the mould as to answering these questions.

A fascinating discovery – Scientist prove that there is evidence of an afterlife

Not that I have ever doubted it. But it does seem now that scientists have indeed discovered that there is an afterlife. A scientist by the name of Robert Lanza has written a book

Biocentrism: How Life and Consciousness are the Keys to Understanding the True Nature of the Universe

There is a lot more to it than just life after death, and I found it quite a comforting read.

The Objective- Science fiction movie review

The Objective movie review _ A blog for men

Only on the last post was I talking about what makes a great science fiction movie (showing us something that we have never seen before) and I think that this one qualifies.

I thoroughly enjoyed this film, as I expected nothing from it.

This film gets you thinking! And that’s what I want from a movie. I read a couple of reviews for the film and what I found was a love it hate it scenario. I came up with a formula for science fiction fans called the Kubrick/Spielberg equation. It reads like this! The Kubrick side of things lets you imagination ride with suggestion and ambiguity. Where the Spielberg side leaves nothing out and answers all of your questions. If you are a Spielberg fan then this movie will not be for you. However if you lean towards the Kubrick side keep reading.

The director of The Objective was also involved in the Blair Witch project. And it shows. In fact one of the cast members was also in the Blair Witch.

OK I’m not going to give any spoilers away here but let’s set the scene. The story revolves around a Special Forces team and an unwanted CIA agent tagging along( Predator) going into Afghanistan. They are to investigate a possible nuclear threat and radioactive signature caught on satellite. What they find is something else .Something very mysterious. And I will leave it at that. Start trying to guess what they find. You most likely won’t and that’s what great about the film.

The acting is great! And they are all pretty much unknowns, which allows you to believe the characters a little bit better. It also allows for the story and suspense to take precedence. The realism of the way these guys go to work is magnificent. A lot of thought and training had gone into this, and there wasn’t a moment in the film when I didn’t think that these guys were real Special Forces.

I’m not going to give any more away here! But I will tell you that some of it is based on real folk law, which hasn’t been discussed really outside of the film.

I really enjoyed this movie and I am going to watch it again. And I do recommend it to the thinkers out there.

Verdict  8/10

I don't recommend you watch the trailer as it gives away too much.

My top Sci- Fi film of all time……… And why!

Truly a topic for A Blog For Men

As you may have guessed by now I am a massive Sci-Fi fan. Pretty much ninety percent of what I watch is science fiction. And I intend to keep it that way.

But what makes a good science fiction film? I put it down to one thing. Showing us something we have never seen before!

Just this one thing can magnetize you to the film. Let’s see where this has happened to me before.

Alien. Ridley Scott’s masterpiece and arguably the greatest sci-fi of all time! First came the derelict spaceship. A weird design from the mind of the incredible artist H.R Geiger. Then came the space jockey (the creature fossilised in the chair inside the derelict spaceship) really weird design. The alien eggs, the face hugger and the alien itself! All these thing never seen before. And even better, there was no explanation of any of them. You never find out where they come from or why they were there. Talk about get it right! Even today people are still trying to piece it all together.

I will be forever a fan of Alien. I love the mystery and the suspense. But most of all I live the concept. For sure we had never seen anything like it before and perhaps since.

Prometheus the sort of prequel to Alien tried to expand on the origins of the creatures form LV-426 and did a wonderful job of it. But we had seen it before (except for the black goo) so you kind of knew what to expect.

But good news! The sequel to Prometheus is going to start filming and should be with us late 2015. I do hope that we see something that we have never seen before. And I have a new number one Sci Fi film.

Take a look an see what I mean

 A Blog For Men

If you have time I suggest that you watch this video. I found it last year! If you have ever wondered how the Storm Trooper costumes were made then this video is for you. I am quite fortunate as I love close to Twickenham where they are made and have visited the shop myself. After watching the video I was surprised at how flimsy the helmet was. YouTube is such a great thing. It maybe the greatest invention of our time! I’m gaining a few followers on Blog For Men now. So for my followers I hope you like this

The number one toy for this Xmas Big Hugs Elmo- a blog for men

The toy to have this Christmas for kids and the one that you will probably not be able to get……… Big Hugs Elmo.

There is something every year that makes it to top spot! And this year it looks like its going to be Big Hugs Elmo!

Not that I am really a fan for this age group of toy but I do have a son who may completely disagree. So order yours now before they run out of stock

I am still waiting for the big day my son comes home and says “Dad can I watch Star Wars”. I was about his age when it came out.

This is what I want

Humans! what are we doing here?

Humans! What are we really all about?

Do you ever get that feeling that for a couple of seconds you are removed from your every day life to briefly ponder………………..what the heck am I doing here. It happened to me yesterday! Literally my fear and understanding of everything vanished. My connection to my everyday pointless life was lost.

It felt great.

Are we living in the matrix? Is anything we do really worth doing? Imagine how much fun we would have if we didn’t have to worry about money! Yes I think that’s what I discovered yesterday. The controlling aspect of money! For ten hours per day I do not see my family because of money and the need to earn it. Don’t get me wrong I don’t mind working I just wish that I knew what I am working towards.

Of course these questions are bigger than I will ever understand. Just a thought.

Something to watch at the weekend- The Dark Night Rises

The Dark Night Rises.

If you are an action movie fan and have not seen it yet then the Dark Night Rises is for you.

I was put off this movie because of the hype surrounding it. And I am glad that I did! Last night when everyone went to bed I put it on. I was hooked right from the very beginning. I won’t give anything away in case you have not seen it but Nolan has created a master piece here. The action is immersive and believable and the acting first rate. Bane played by Tom Hardy is a show stealer.

Build a life size R2-D2- a blog for men

Build a life size R2-D2

I was having a bit of a surf on the net the other day and I thought that I would revisit an old favourite of mine …Star Wars. The subject has become bigger than ever with Jedi now becoming a religion. The things that people make are incredible. People make their own Stormtrooper costumes and if you are tall enough you can make your own Vader out fit. But one thing did gram my attention…………… Build you own life size R2-D2.

This really grabbed my attention as my son is coming up to that age where with a bit of luck he will get into Star Wars. I think that I could make one of these. The question is would I have enough time to……………… Hmmmmmmm got me thinking now. Take a look at the video below.

Pretty cool I would say!

My sons first cinema experience!

It was a big day for me on Saturday! Something that I had never really thought about! My son’s first cinema experience! We went and saw monsters inc in 3D. He is coming up to four now so I thought it was time for him to go. Not a bad film at all. But I sure wish that it was Star Wars. I think that the first film that I saw was Star Wars, but it may have been Bamby. The film was verging on two hours so I expected him to get a bit restless which he did. One thing that I have noticed about the cinema is the price of the whole experience. For a family of three and a spot of lunch you won’t get much change out of £100.

Looking forward to going to see the new Star Wars films that JJ is making! And for the toys!

Tom Ford Grey Vetiver

Ok I have a clear winner in my men’s fragrance search. Tom Ford Grey Vetiver. I have worn it now every day for a week and I must say I love it. It is unique! It smells great nad it lasts all day. I have tested nearly 100 men’s aftershaves and fragrances so I know what I am talking about.

What I like about Tom Ford Grey Vetiver! The first thing that has intrigued me about this fragrance is that I have never smelt anyone else wearing it. Nor is it available from general stores. This gives it an edge right from the start. After putting it on an letting it breathe for an hour, you great a rich, crisp, classy professional smell. Just what I have been lookingall this time for. A classy mens aftershave

Classy Mens Aftershave

Classy men's aftershave

Ok so what is a classy men’s aftershave/fragrance?

Over the past few months I have been testing and smelling men’s aftershave to find something a bit special. The search was hard and a little confusing. At first sniff many of the men’s aftershaves smelt the same (very lemony). Because of this I decided to find some that were off the shelf.

I have chose three to start of with. Creed Irish Tweed. A favorite of JFK. diptyque L'Ombre dans l'Eau and Tom Fords Grey Vetiver.

Here are my views on these highly recommended fragrances for men

Creed Irish Tweed: very good! Put a bit of it on the back of my hand and it didn’t bowl me over straight away, but after about an hour I had a fresh smell that I kept coming back to. I certainly have not come across anyone wearing this before

Verdict: initial thought 7/10 but after some time 8/10 and well worth a try. Manley @ classy

L'Ombre dans l'Eau: This one I waited with baited breath for. I expected a lot from this fragrance. I placed some on the back of my hand! It certainly was different. I smelt of roses! Not really my cup of tea but I can see why it is popular.

Verdict 7/10

Tom Ford Grey Vetiver: Tom Ford was a designer at Gucci and I bought this on recommendation. This one was my cup of tea. It has a similar smell to Creed Irish Tweed and I kept going back to it. Unique, crisp and classy I like this one.

Verdict 9/10

That’s all for the moment! But I do intend on making a list of classy men’s fragrances so keep popping back.

Rolex Submariner - The best watch in the world!

The Rolex Submariner! The greatest watch ever made. Bond had one and Bond knows best. The Submariner is a divers watch resistant to 300m. I first met my love on the wrist of  a car dealer in the early eighties. He would leave his watch as a deposit for a car as many dealers did........ How cool! What I like about the submariner is it's pure bulkiness combined with it's absolute mechanical perfection. It really has no place in every day life , but that's what makes it stand out so much. The Rolex submariner for me is iconic a bit like an American president. Cost let's not talk about cost.if you need the ask the price you can't afford it.let me leave you with leave you with a few pictures to salivate over

Thinking of taking up a martial art. You may want to try Krav Maga! Developed in Israel during the second world war to take guns an knives from attackers. This fighting style is unique and very effective. And the good news is you can learn it in your own home. I have never taken any form of self defence course before but I am liking the look of this. It’s a strange world we live in now and I think it’s a good idea to start learning something like this. So Krav Maga here I come. Check out this video. I suggest you watch it full screen. It’s in HD and for the first time you can really fly with the Red Arrows in the cockpit. I found it utterly amazing. I have heard that there is a full motion ride at the Science Museum that uses this footage. I think that I may take a look.

Cocktails,cocktails cocktaills!

Cocktails’ Cocktails Cocktails!

Had a great weekend this week! We had a 30th birthday for one of the family and a heck of a lot of people turned up. I was behind the bar making the cocktails. I had a bit trouble with the Pina Colada. The ream curdled in the sun, so I think I will find a fail safe recipe that I can make in just a shaker. The night went well but because of the heat most of the guests stayed away from the wine, so it was beer and cocktails all night long. The basic theme of the party was an English beach, So we had a backdrop of the sea tables laid out with lanterns and sea shells every where……………… Not a bad night I must say!

UFO over Bracknell. Best photo evidence yet!

Best picture of a UFO yet! Says UK MOD

Hot off the press. I just heard yesterday of a UFO incident that happened near me in Bracknell, Berkshire.

The picture does look a bit strange

The former MOD spokesman  said

the photo is 'one of the best' he has seen.”
The spokesman, who investigated reports of UFO sightings from 1991 to 1994, said: 'The shape and colour seems to rule out things like aircraft lights or Chinese lanterns.
“It would be interesting to know if anyone else saw this, or if anything unusual was tracked on radar.”

UFO's Whats the story?

Been a little while since my last post! Not much really been happening. One thing that has caught my eye recently and that is UFO’s. I am not going to question are they real because it’s quite obvious that they are? The fact is they are just unidentified.
But it got me thinking how different the world would be if we knew that there were other life forms visiting our planet.

Question 1. What are they up to?

Question 2. How long have the been visiting?

I would like to keep revisiting this subject and maybe get some answers.

I watched this documentary on Sunday. Its about UFO’s and I must say it did raise a few questions.

Watch it here!

Star Trek Into Darkness- Go and see it!

Star Trek Into Darknesss

Star Trek Into Darkness

Blimey what a great film!

Went to Staines VUE cinema on Thursday to see it! I made a head count in there of about twenty people. Not good for the cinema, but for me I had the cinema almost to myself.

I would highly recommend that you see Star Trek 2 before you see this movie as you will appreciate it a lot more.

Star Trek Into darkness is in 3D and to be honest for some reason I have a lot of trouble focusing on scenes with a lot of motion, but the 3D is amazing. This could be a sign of age.

There is a lot of clever dialogue in this film, and I have to give it to those young actors they really play the parts well. Bones played by a New Zealand guy (Karl Urban) for me steals the show. As does Spock!

But there is a new villain in town in the form of Benedict Cumberbatch, who is a very convincing baddie.

Scotty (Simon Pegg) also reprises his role and adds to the humor. I must say I thoroughly enjoyed the film. The detail is the visuals are incredible.

This film is a good 8/10 for me so go and see it!

Even my girlfriend liked it!

Quote from my girlfriend “I liked it more than I like you”. And then she gave it a 3/10.

I have gone up a point from last week!
