Lewis Collins a very inspirational man

Lewis Collins one of my all time heroes has passed away aged 67. We all knew him as Bodie from the Professionals with Martin Shaw staring along side as Doyle. I never understood why we never saw more of Lewis after the Professionals finished came to an end. He did indeed try out for the part of James Bond. A part made for him but he was considered to aggressive for the role. Perhaps he became disillusioned with the industry and who could blame him.

He moved his family to LA where he started a computer business. Talk about man of many talents. What I liked about Lewis is a bit unusual for an actor but he really was as tough as he seemed. He was a reservist for the Parachute Regiment and even tried out for the SAS, in which he was successful for selection.

I will raise a glass for you tonight Lewis wherever you are.Below is a clip from Who Dares Wins catch the film if you can.

PACO RABANNE 1 MILLION

PACO RABANNE 1 MILLION

Voted by many now as the number one cologne for men! I myself use this and I must say that it is a sure winner.

Cologne is a bit of a tricky thing to buy for a man. But 1 million seems to be a favorite for both men and women alike.

It certainly is different in terms of smell. Colognes can seem the same, with many of them having a strong hint of lemon, which can be a bit overpowering. This particular cologne is quite soft and spicy, giving it a deeper more masculine fragrance. Many women are claiming that 1 Million by Paco Rabanne is a bit of a seducer and I must say that I have had a few comments from females since I have worn it, more so than any other cologne that I have ever worn.

The bottle or dispenser is also a bit snazzy, resembling a bar of gold bullion. No chance of picking up the wrong bottle here.

Overall I would give Paco Rabanne 1 Million  9/10 and I think that a lot of other people would agree.

Another observation for this cologne, is that I know young and older people that wear it and I always take that as a good sign

Shaun Ryder on UFO’S- A blog for men

Shaun Ryder on UFO’S. What will he discover?

I am sure that most of you are aware of the new series on the History channel, hosted by the front man for the band he Happy Mondays.

Shaun had seen some UFO activity on a couple of occasions in his early life. And since then has had a keen interest in the subject.

This program takes a look from what I would say was a slightly different angle. It's kind of a one man and his quest scenario. Because Shaun is one of us and not a skeptic, the old quest for proof ploy
is not present, making it easier and more interesting to watch. I would say that this is the next step in disclosure.

I think that it is safe to say the UFO phenomena are indeed real! It can no longer be categorized with myth such as Bigfoot and the Lochness Monster. Sightings have been made by amateur and professional alike. Jimmy Carter saw one, reports from airline pilots and air traffic controller’s also military pilots, Doctors, police, teachers all people in authorative positions have reported seeing them. The real big question is!

What should our next step as humans be towards this obvious situation?

It would seem that another species or maybe several are trying to make us aware of their presence. What is their agenda here? Where do they come from? And what can they teach us?

I hope that Shaun Ryder on UFO’s breaks the mould as to answering these questions.

A fascinating discovery – Scientist prove that there is evidence of an afterlife

Not that I have ever doubted it. But it does seem now that scientists have indeed discovered that there is an afterlife. A scientist by the name of Robert Lanza has written a book

Biocentrism: How Life and Consciousness are the Keys to Understanding the True Nature of the Universe

There is a lot more to it than just life after death, and I found it quite a comforting read.

The Objective- Science fiction movie review

The Objective movie review _ A blog for men

Only on the last post was I talking about what makes a great science fiction movie (showing us something that we have never seen before) and I think that this one qualifies.

I thoroughly enjoyed this film, as I expected nothing from it.

This film gets you thinking! And that’s what I want from a movie. I read a couple of reviews for the film and what I found was a love it hate it scenario. I came up with a formula for science fiction fans called the Kubrick/Spielberg equation. It reads like this! The Kubrick side of things lets you imagination ride with suggestion and ambiguity. Where the Spielberg side leaves nothing out and answers all of your questions. If you are a Spielberg fan then this movie will not be for you. However if you lean towards the Kubrick side keep reading.

The director of The Objective was also involved in the Blair Witch project. And it shows. In fact one of the cast members was also in the Blair Witch.

OK I’m not going to give any spoilers away here but let’s set the scene. The story revolves around a Special Forces team and an unwanted CIA agent tagging along( Predator) going into Afghanistan. They are to investigate a possible nuclear threat and radioactive signature caught on satellite. What they find is something else .Something very mysterious. And I will leave it at that. Start trying to guess what they find. You most likely won’t and that’s what great about the film.

The acting is great! And they are all pretty much unknowns, which allows you to believe the characters a little bit better. It also allows for the story and suspense to take precedence. The realism of the way these guys go to work is magnificent. A lot of thought and training had gone into this, and there wasn’t a moment in the film when I didn’t think that these guys were real Special Forces.

I’m not going to give any more away here! But I will tell you that some of it is based on real folk law, which hasn’t been discussed really outside of the film.

I really enjoyed this movie and I am going to watch it again. And I do recommend it to the thinkers out there.

Verdict  8/10

I don't recommend you watch the trailer as it gives away too much.

My top Sci- Fi film of all time……… And why!

Truly a topic for A Blog For Men

As you may have guessed by now I am a massive Sci-Fi fan. Pretty much ninety percent of what I watch is science fiction. And I intend to keep it that way.

But what makes a good science fiction film? I put it down to one thing. Showing us something we have never seen before!

Just this one thing can magnetize you to the film. Let’s see where this has happened to me before.

Alien. Ridley Scott’s masterpiece and arguably the greatest sci-fi of all time! First came the derelict spaceship. A weird design from the mind of the incredible artist H.R Geiger. Then came the space jockey (the creature fossilised in the chair inside the derelict spaceship) really weird design. The alien eggs, the face hugger and the alien itself! All these thing never seen before. And even better, there was no explanation of any of them. You never find out where they come from or why they were there. Talk about get it right! Even today people are still trying to piece it all together.

I will be forever a fan of Alien. I love the mystery and the suspense. But most of all I live the concept. For sure we had never seen anything like it before and perhaps since.

Prometheus the sort of prequel to Alien tried to expand on the origins of the creatures form LV-426 and did a wonderful job of it. But we had seen it before (except for the black goo) so you kind of knew what to expect.

But good news! The sequel to Prometheus is going to start filming and should be with us late 2015. I do hope that we see something that we have never seen before. And I have a new number one Sci Fi film.

Take a look an see what I mean

The making of the origional Storm Trooper Helmet - Blog For Men

 A Blog For Men

If you have time I suggest that you watch this video. I found it last year! If you have ever wondered how the Storm Trooper costumes were made then this video is for you. I am quite fortunate as I love close to Twickenham where they are made and have visited the shop myself. After watching the video I was surprised at how flimsy the helmet was. YouTube is such a great thing. It maybe the greatest invention of our time! I’m gaining a few followers on Blog For Men now. So for my followers I hope you like this
